Student Days 2008
The fifth edition of the ALCS Dutch Student Days took place at the University of Nottingham 28-29 February 2008. Over 100 university students of Dutch in Great Britain and Ireland flocked to Nottingham for two days of culture and fun.
This involved speed dating in Dutch and a workshop to prepare for an evening performance with among others Wilfried de Jong (author and television producer) and Ernest van der Kwast (author). Day two had a more practical slant and saw a presentation of the available resources on the Virtual Dutch site as well as an interactive presentation on ‘Working as a translator’.
A small group of students also had a meeting with Mr Pim Waldeck, Dutch Ambassador in London and Ms Jacqueline Balteau, representative of the Taalunie.
