ALCS for learners
The ALCS wants to support students learning Dutch and studying Low Countries cultures at universities. We organise the ALCS Student Days every other year for the benefit of undergraduate and postgraduate students. Students at all universities where Dutch is taught were invited to take part in these events which took place for 24 hours over two days and included a visiting speaker, workshops and a social event.

MOOC for advanced learners
This new interactive course for advanced learners of Dutch is based on videos by Dutch and Flemish academics on topics ranging from psychology, linguistics and economics to ecology and biology. It was developed by four international Dutch scholars - including our very own ALCS Chair - with the generous support of the Nederlandse Taalunie.
Animated Grammar
In April 2020 that we at the University of Sheffield started to experiment with our visual approach to grammar. Our learners are all familiar with a pictorial presentation of information; who has not at least dabbled with a bit of Duolingo or Babbel?
Our aim was to borrow some of the visual and fun options of our familiar apps and to combine it with a level of precision required for a university language course. Our first attempt, How to Conjugate the Regular Dutch Verb in the Present Tense has already surpassed the 27000 viewers mark.
